I
have a 6 month old and 2 year old and I am terrified to
think what their education is going to cost. So I have been
researching different ways to save money especially since the stock market
and interest rates have been so flat.
One
way I came up with was coins. If you are reading this you may have
considered something similar.
As far as the state
quarters are concerned here is what I estimate.
1.) Collecting the quarters is very easy to do
and fun. I actually look forward to buying something and getting change
back.
2.) I have a separate jar at home just for
state quarters and everyone knows I am collecting them. So every
once in while a guests to my home will throw some in....(I am already
making money!)
3.) I do not feel the pinch of saving money for
my kids college since it ends up being pocket change. Couple
dollars a day 365 days a year 18 years = $13,140 savings and
your investment can never go down!
4.) Once these maps are complete they will bring a premium just for being finished
(I estimate around $59.99) Just look on Ebay albums part way done
are already bringing in premiums. Total invested $10.95 map +Average
of $4.00
shipping assuming your buying more than one. $14.00 in quarters equals
$28.95 invested. If sold for $59.95 you have almost doubled.
5.) Kids & Wife can participate in saving for
college (only way I have ever got my wife to save any money).
6.) Great way to educate your kids about money
and especial the importance of saving some.
7.) If they put together one map per
week...that should be about one hour a week quite time (priceless).
8.) They will learn geography and history since
every coin has some historic significance.
9.) Its a hobby that can make you or your kids
money instead of being a very costly hobby.
10.) Unbelievable great gift,
between me and my wife we have over 23 nieces and nephews between the
ages of 1 and 13 years old.
Map Details
"These are brand New"
Proudly made in the USA with
archival-quality materials
Measures 26"W x 16"H folds
to 13"W x 16"H.
Made from ACID-FREE paper that is ALUM-FREE
and LIGNIN-FREE.
(The
exposure of LIGNIN to air and sunlight is what turns paper yellow)
(Eexcessive use of
ALUM is
considered detrimental to the permanence of paper)
These maps are the biggest I could find on the market and they are very
heavy!
So
these maps will last forever they are wrapped in green leather looking
material made from very thick hard board.
The holes
are cut so your quarters will not fall out.
I currently
display a map on my kids bedroom walls but they could be a great counter
display and even better framed. The best part is you can fold them
to fit a shelf with some of your oversized books.
Have
a blast putting these together and if you're like me you'll love getting
change now!

1879-S: BETTER DATE,
SHARP FEATURES....
BUT SCRATCHED
....ONLY A QUALITY FILLER
It's quickly becoming difficult to find (or afford) a blast white 1879-S Morgan; they'e getting to be elusive coins. At one time they were fairly plentiful but not any longer. Quality coins from this early date continue to be scooped up by collectors and investors.
This is a better date in the series and there just aren't many around in high grades; early Morgan mintage in San Francisco. Blazing white MS coins are not as outrageously priced as some other dates but are quickly becoming expensive.
This one looks at first glance like a smart alternative. It's got the features of an attractive "slider"; an AU coin with modest circulation. It makes a superb way to fill this date in a low-end set. Huh ?
The views of my coins tell you the information you need about a coin...the details, the flaws, the good points and so on. All my listings include an accurate description too, so you know exactly what you are bidding on or buying.
It shows a major flaw on the reverse side. I spotted it with my lens and then got a view of the coin which shows it a bit more clearly. Again, initially the coin looks to grade right in the AU55 range in my opinion at first glance. BUT IT'S JUST A FILLER IN A CICULATED SET.
The flaw shows clearly....someone scratched the date 1936 into the field next to the wing. Was it in fact done in 1936, or 76 years ago ? Probably. That year, the Great Depression was still unfolding and a buck was actually a meaningful amount of money. There's no excuse for it but it was done by someone who wasn't into silver coins and there's nothing that can fix it.
I actually think the coin had and still has some prooflike qualities. When released from the mint (whenever and wherever that took place), this was almost certainly a MS65 or better that was definitely prooflike at that time. Note the rims still show strong depth and the coin is an original. Never cleaned or polished. That alone has become a difficult find for a coin struck so long back. But it's essentially a damaged coin. Won't grade. Can't be graded. It's primary value is it's silver content (which is not affected by the scratch).
Accumulate all the Morgans your coin budget allows. Over the coming years, we're going to see silver soar in value. The debt that has been accumulated by our government will create problems for our currency and the I.O.U.S.A. for years to come. Use the recent correction in silver to your advantage; in a handful of years the price of silver will be many times higher than the current price and today's level will be just a dream in the rear-view mirror.
My best suggestion for the coming months is that you add to or build up your Morgan holdings while you can still do so affordably. FREE SHIPPING ! Some sellers charge $3 - $5 to ship you one raw coin. Why pay that kind of money ? Anything from me ships quickly - first class and either the day of or the day after payment. See comments in my feedback on how fast I get your coin to your mailbox.
In 2 short nights, it's my annual event that results in a lot of collectors filling a lot of key dates in their set:
*CARSON CITY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND STARTS RIGHT HERE*
*BEGINS FRIDAY NIGHT AND LASTS THROUGH MEMORIAL DAY*
*CHECK MY OTHER COINS, YOU'LL SEE THE VARIETY*
*THESE ARE THE MOST FAMOUS COINS IN THE MORGAN SERIES*
*A NICE ASSORTMENT LISTED, SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE*
*MORE THAN JUST COINS, EACH OF THEM IS AN INVESTMENT*
Thanks for looking.
This 1879-S is a way to
acquire some silver bullion !

You are bidding on a 50¢ note from the BANK of TENNESSEE in Nashville. It is dated 1861. A train appears in the center picture. Spanish coins are on the left and right. Guaranteed authentic. The back has a piece of paper attached to it.
Bears a fading hand written signature
Condition: Heavily used in commerce, with tears and small holes
It was the 27th Tennessee Regiment that saw more active service than any other Confederate outfit. Activated at Trenton in the summer of 1861, it consisted of four companies from Henderson County. C. H. "Kit" Williams was captain of the company known as "Felix Rebels." B. H. Brown commanded a company known as "the Sharpshooters." Richard Barham and S. A. Sayle were he commanders of the two other companies.
When the regiment was reorganized. Williams was made colonel; Brown, lieutenant colonel; Samuel Love, major; Robert Wilkerson, sergeant major; D. A. McKamey, surgeon; and J. Wingo, assistant surgeon. W. P. Timberlake was elected captain of the company formerly commanded by Williams, and John M. Taylor became captain of the company formerly commanded by Brown. These four companies contained approximately 1000 men.
This outfit fought its first battle at Belmont, then moved into Kentucky at Bowling Green, and on to Nashville. The regiment was part of the main western army of the Confederacy, and at Nashville it became a part of the army commanded by General Albert Sidney Johnson. At Murfreesboro in December of 1861, it took part in the furious charges which swept the right wing of the Federals back several miles; at Chickamauga, it fought with superb courage, forcing the enemy back at every point; at Missionary Ridge, it held ground against overwhelming numbers; and at Jonesboro and Lovejoy, it fought with courage and was a part of the doomed campaign that saw the last hope of the Confederacy in Tennessee vanish. It fought its last battle at Bentonville and surrendered in April of 1865. Less than half of the men who left the county returned.
